Our Information Technology Services (ITS) leadership team values a diverse and inclusive work environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging, and everyone feels valued and respected. Relatedly, we have developed an ITS Inclusive Excellence Plan that has resulted in the following initial actions, which we’ll be adding to over time:
- Addition of a new “Diversity and Inclusion” track within our IT Academy learning portal
- Ongoing facilitated discussions around diversity, equity, and inclusion topics
- An ITS employee climate survey to find out what our employees most like about working here and where/how we can do better
- Implementation of more inclusive hiring practices. With the help of HR and the Division for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, we’ve developed a new training class (“Inclusive Hiring Practices”) for all of our ITS supervisors!
Note: Our VP & CIO has joined nearly 600 other senior higher education IT leaders in signing the CIO’s Commitment on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, endorsing a common set of actions that promote and advocate for DEI -- both locally and within the IT profession.
